What can a UV diode do?

The article is devoted to the analysis of gas-discharge lamps for air disinfection devices and the analysis of the current technical level of UV diodes.
Due to the current epidemiological situation in the world, more and more people are thinking about using effective means for air disinfection.
To do this, five main methods are used in the premises: ozonation, ultraviolet (UV) radiation, ventilation, aeroionization, and spraying of essential oils.
Each of these methods has its advantages and disadvantages.
The most common and promising method is air disinfection by UV radiation of the bactericidal optical spectrum. Closed-type devices for implementing this method are increasingly in demand on the market. According to the rostec group, Russian institutions need at least 100 thousand such devices (according to TASS). The advantage of these products with air recirculation is that they can be used safely in the presence of people.
UV-discharge lamps for disinfection have been used since the 1930s. However, their use in a room where people are located requires the use of special flasks. They should not pass radiation that generates ozone, as this gas is harmful to humans.
The scheme of operation of the bactericidal air recirculator is shown in figure 1.
